Pro Practices Log
Read my week-to-week thoughts/progress below:

I spent most of this week revamping me senior thesis concept (after agonizing over it all Winter Break). I definitely bit off more than I could chew, and I also found that the logic of my own argument was starting to elude me towards the end (things weren't quite coming together anymore). With this new version of my concept, I feel more confident, and I don't have to start my research my scratch since there's a ton of overlap. You can check out my new project plan here.
I also brainstormed on my goals (short-term and long-term for the purpose of this class, and this is what I came up with:
[this semester] complete senior thesis!! I'll likely need direct guidance from you because my senior thesis teacher has told me repeatedly that he's never written a thesis and that he'll direct me to someone, but never has // Write up all necessary case studies for my portfolio. I have a few from my internships that I've never had time to tackle, and that needs to happen before I graduate so that I'm presenting my best self to the job market // Understand ins and outs of freelance/contract work, as that's something I'm very interested in doing looking forward
[2 years] work remotely (preferably doing freelance/contract work, editing or UX) so that I can travel abroad. Specifically, I want to spend time in Mexico to become fluent in Spanish and turn this into Latin-American UX writing, localization, and translation abilities // work on writing passion projects like A Revelation in Muncie, Windhead, and The Sunflower Sisters // help my mother with her business ideas (branding, website, etc)
[5 years] ease up on freelance in favor of a full-time content design role to chart a course for management (see if that's something I'd be interested in). Would prefer to work in an agency-like setting like WillowTree where I can work on multiple projects in different fields // continue working on my writing projects; publish Windhead into a Webtoon
[10 years] take on mentee(s) (ADPlist or interns at org?), especially young Black women in the field of UX // Publish A Revelation in Muncie // stay at org or continue in freelance depending on which I like better and if I'm interested in management
[25 years] move abroad permanently? I'm not very interested in staying within the U.S., and if I can secure a remote job that allows me to live abroad, that would be ideal
Lastly, I made a list of 10 companies (not in order) I'd like to work for. It's been tweaked a bit from what I shared in class:
